Every chapter of Alpha Phi is united by a single goal when it comes to philanthropy. Internationally, Alpha Phi’s philanthropy focuses on women’s heart health. As the Alpha Beta chapter of Alpha Phi, we organize various events to help raise money for Alpha Phi Foundation. Alpha Phi Foundation divides donations into several categories including women’s heart health, scholarships and leadership programs. Our chapter holds three main events to raise money and we have a lot of fun while doing it: Red Dress Gala (an elegant evening event), Alpha Phifa (soccer tournament within the Greek community) and Cardiac Arrest (“arresting” famous faces from campus and holding them until the fundraising goal for each prisoner is raised). In 2013, we raised $25,000 with the help and support of our generous community!
The Alpha Beta chapter’s passion for donating time to community service is incredible. Our members go above and beyond by volunteering at numerous local organizations such as hospitals, elementary schools, food pantries, senior care centers and animal shelters. We want to be sure we support those in need and give back to our community through service.
We had another very successful Alpha Phifa event, raising over $4,000 for Alpha Phi Foundation. Our chapter's annual philanthropy within the Greek community is a week-long event consisting of a FIFA soccer tournament and various other inter-fraternity competitions.
Red Dress Gala is Alpha Phi's annual silent auction philanthropy event, held during Alpha Phi's Parents’ Weekend each spring. Families, friends and alumnae are invited to enjoy an elegant evening of food, drink and fun at a formal venue. All proceeds from Red Dress Gala benefit Alpha Phi Foundation.
In 2013, the Red Dress Gala was a huge success! We held a cocktail reception, delicious dinner, silent auction, live auction and fashion show. We raised almost $21,000 for Alpha Phi Foundation in 2014.
The Alpha Beta chapter has a strong passion for donating time to our local community. We have relationships with multiple local organizations and dedicate our time and service to them throughout the year. Twice a month we volunteer at a local food pantry to help package and hand out food. We visit a senior care center every other month to spend time with its residents, organize activities and join them for meals. Each semester we organize a clothing drive across campus that allows us to donate much needed clothing to a local shelter for battered women and children. We want to be sure we support those in need and give back to our community through service.
